My twins had separate placentas. Doesn’t that mean they’re fraternal?

Not necessarily. Only a twin DNA test can confirm the exact relationship between twins.

Traditionally, separate placentas were thought to indicate fraternal twins. However, fraternal twins come from two separate eggs fertilized by different sperm, while identical twins originate from a single fertilized egg that divides into two. Only DNA testing can provide accurate information on twin zygosity.
